Does Dixon's Hazard Response need a Motor Vehicle Repair Licence?

No, not for the roadside assistance activities I have had assessed by the relevant department.Dixon's Hazard Response provides services such as jump-starts, emergency fuel delivery and roadside tyre changes, rather than operating as a mechanical repair workshop.

I have received written clarification from the Department of Energy, Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety regarding my activities. However, work classified as regulated motor vehicle repair work under the Motor Vehicle Repairers Act 2003 may require licensing.

Can Dixon's Hazard Response close a road?

No. Dixon's Hazard Response does not have independent authority to formally close public roads. Road closures are undertaken by authorised authorities or persons acting under the appropriate legal authority. Although I hold traffic management qualifications, these do not automatically authorise Dixon's Hazard Response to implement road closures.

The Police may request that I close a road on their behalf

When are you available for call-outs?

My operating window is every weekend, running from Friday at 3:00 pm through until Sunday at 5:00 pm. During these times, I are ready to respond to stranded drivers and local roadway hazards.

Why was Dixon's Hazard Response started?

It was established out of a passion for road safety and community support offering rapid, accessible roadside help and proactive hazard management to keep Perth roads moving safely over busy weekends.

Why not simply join an existing emergency service?

Operating independently allows Dixon's Hazard Response to rapidly deploy directly to local minor hazards, debris, and stranded motorists that standard emergency services may not prioritise or have capacity to attend immediately.

How can I support Dixon's Hazard Response?

You can support my work by spreading the word to fellow Perth drivers, sharing my service on social media, and reaching out if you would like to contribute towards our helping our community

Can Dixon's Hazard Response close a lane?

There is an important difference between closing a lane and stopping to assist at an existing roadside hazard.

Under Regulation 138 of the Road Traffic Code 2000 (WA), certain emergency stopping circumstances, including assisting with a disabled vehicle, may provide a legal defence to stopping offences. This does not provide unrestricted permission to block lanes. Regulation 108 also prohibits intentional or unreasonable obstruction. Dixon's Hazard Response does not implement formal lane closures. Any vehicle positioning must be lawful, necessary and undertaken with safety as the priority.
